In present scenario, India is amongst the leading countries which are contributing to transformation of the world’s energy landscape. Whenever we talk about climate change mitigation, the first and foremost step is to switch to low-carbon growth path and energy through renewable sources plays a very important role in this chapter.

Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd (RUMSL) as implementing agency owns many remarkable achievements in the field of solar energy and 750 MW Rewa Solar Project is one of them.  Flow of Solar energy from Rewa Solar Plant in Madhya Pradesh to Delhi Metro opens up an entirely new chapter in utilization of Renewable energy in the country, where large institutional open access consumers can start procuring inexpensive Renewable Energy. The solar energy from Rewa project is meeting approximately 60% of DMRC’s day time energy requirement. Such customers, like Delhi Metro, are being guided by commercial considerations and not regulatory compulsions.

Rewa Project is special in the history of renewable energy in India, on account of it being the first time that solar energy would be used for railway traction and being the first case in the country of renewable power being scheduled outside the Region to an inter-State open access customer. Such initiatives could enable the country to achieve its renewable energy targets by expanding the procurement of solar power to large institutional purchasers, thereby removing exclusive dependence on regulatory directions and DISCOMs.

Madhya Pradesh has always made an effort to make solar energy more affordable and acceptable. Now, RUMSL is implementing 1500 MW solar parks in the state, namely, 550 MW Agar Solar Park, 500 MW Neemuch Solar Park and 450MW Shajapur Solar Park in Agar,Neemuch and Shajapur districts of Madhya Pradesh respectively. Request for Proposal (RfP) for all the three parks have been floated and bidding process is under progress. 1500 MW solar parks will likely be completed by September 2022. The power from 1500 MW solar parks will be supplied via the national grid to Indian Railways in eight states and Madhya Pradesh Power Management company (MPPMCL). RUMSL is again ready to create history with this 1500 MW Solar Project.

The other upcoming projects of RUMSL are 600 MW Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park, 1500 MW Chattarpur Solar Park and 1400 MW Morena Solar Park
